ROCK THE BLOCK – HOMEOWNER STORY
Habitat for Humanity helps individuals and families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. As part of Neighborhood Revitalization program in Woodland Heights, we hosted Rock the Block. The event is designed to impact multiple individuals and families on one targeted block.
Leading up to the event, Habitat staff met with homeowners along Jefferson Ave., in Woodland Heights who needed help with minor home repair and yard cleanups through Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness program. Projects ranged from mowing lawns and removing overgrown vines, to painting homes and repairing a ramp.
Thanks to the support of our event partners Thrivent Financial and CoxHealth, 17 projects were completed during Rock the Block which directly impacted 38 residents.
It’s amazing to see how much impact can be made when the community joins together to address a need. Rock the Block was more than completing a few of our neighborhood cleanup projects. Thanks to the support of our event partners, we were able to bring in a new energy to a group of homeowners along Jefferson Ave.

Meet Linda:
“I’m so grateful to Habitat for Humanity. They’ve done wonderful things for me. Habitat is so helpful, they take care of everything. You don’t have to worry about less than honest contractors. Today Habitat helped clean up my yard and Rocked the Block so it’s looking awesome! Habitat does so much good in this community and the community needs this type of help.” – Linda, a homeowner who received a hand-up during Rock the Block.
