The Springfield Business Journal’s inaugural Nonprofit Excellence Awards is set to shine a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of local nonprofits and the individuals who propel them forward. This year, we’re thrilled to announce that our own Jordan Gibson, a dedicated board member of Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri, has been honored with the prestigious Board Member of the Year award.
A Night to Remember
Scheduled for August 29, 2024, the awards gala at the Oasis Convention Center promises to be an evening of celebration, recognition, and inspiration. Nonprofit organizations across three categories—large, midsize, and small—will be honored for their outstanding work and contributions to the community. In addition to organizational awards, three individual honors will be given, highlighting the exceptional dedication and impact of professionals in the nonprofit sector.

Jordan Gibson’s recognition as Board Member of the Year is a testament to her unwavering commitment to making Springfield a better place. Her work with Habitat for Humanity of Springfield and Harmony House has been instrumental in advancing their missions, ensuring that families have access to safe, affordable housing and that victims of domestic violence receive the support they need.
About the Awards
The Nonprofit Excellence Awards, revived by the Springfield Business Journal, honor nine area nonprofits and three individuals for their service and impact. The event, which began at Drury University and has been hosted by various organizations, celebrates those who often work behind the scenes to make our community a vibrant, supportive place.
The top nonprofits in each category—large, midsize, and small—will be announced at the event, with each winner receiving a cash prize to further their mission. The individual awards, determined by an independent judging process, recognize the exceptional contributions of a CEO/Executive Director, a Board Member, and a Nonprofit Employee.
