As we reach the end of the holiday season, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore encourages the Greene County community to donate holiday items and decorations. Each year, the Habitat Springfield ReStore saves all Christmas items donated throughout the year and puts them out for sale at the beginning of November in our Christmas Extravaganza. The 2023 sale raised $17,600 for affordable housing in Greene County! We accept donations of artificial trees, indoor and outdoor holiday decor, lights, ornaments, wreaths, garland, wrapping paper and bags, ribbon, floral, and so much more.
Local Impact: All proceeds from when you donate holiday items and decorations stay local to help those in need of safe, affordable housing. Our homebuying program provides a unique opportunity for families or individuals to build or renovate and buy a home to be their own through a 0% interest, 0% APR loan. We don’t just put people in homes. We also keep people in homes by partnering with homeowners to alleviate critical health and safety issues by completing needed home improvement projects.
Environmental Impact: When you donate holiday items and decorations as opposed to throwing them out, you give your items new life in a neighbor’s home and keep them from filling up a landfill. By donating now, you also free up valuable storage space in your homes.
Habitat for Humanity is pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation.
