Meet the Wilmoths
Josh and Kristina Wilmoth are coming up on 20 years of marriage. They are the dedicated parents of eight, yes eight, children that they have gained through birth, foster care, and adoption. By 2008 the couple had two children, Jamison and Allana. They were a happy family of four and were ready to grow their family. In late 2008 Kristina gave birth to a stillborn baby boy named Gabriel just one week before Christmas. Just a week after suffering this loss, there was a house fire that led to months of displacement. And then followed living in a home with no power, no water, and extensive fire damage.
While life was challenging, Josh and Kristina both managed to earn their degrees from local universities. They were able to move their family into safer and more stable housing.
In 2013, Kristina lost a baby girl, and the family realized they were meant to grow their family another way. They began to foster sibling groups through the Greene County Children’s Division, and by May of 2019, the family had grown from a family of four to a family of ten through six permanent adoptions!
Josh currently pastors at Life360 Fairbanks and Kristina works as the Marketing Director for a non-profit. The family is currently living in a four-bedroom, one bath home in the Grant Beach Neighborhood. Unfortunately, their current home is not able to serve all of the family’s needs. Three of their children are medical needs children, and six members of the family have asthma, which has become hard to manage with the wet basement and old carpets in their current home.
One of their children, lovingly nicknamed Bunny Girl, has Autism, PTSD, and other behavioral disorders and pediatric mental illnesses. Bunny Girl needs a room of her own where her family and healthcare workers can help her more fully as she manages the stresses of her daily life.
How You Can Help
The family is currently hard at work getting in their Sweat Equity hours. Their goal is to reach the halfway mark (175 hours for two applicants) by the end of February. Kristina has been using her Marketing background to run a Facebook page, Team Wilmoth Home, where she gives an inside look into what it’s like to work through our Homebuying Program.
