Lisa Duke, a Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri, Partner Homebuyer will by home for the holidays! She will purchase her Habitat home on December 20, just in time for Lisa, her three kids, and brother to celebrate their first Christmas in their new home.
Lisa is a single mother of 3 very active teen and pre-teen kids. She, her adult brother and the kids all like to participate in sports and have a very active lifestyle. Lisa works in the medical field and is a natural caregiver. She regularly assists other family members outside of her home, while providing care for her brother and kids. They are excited to have their own home with their own backyard.
When asked about being home for the holidays, Lisa said, “There are really no words for how I’m feeling right now. I’m so very thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Habitat for Humanity’s program. It’s been such an amazing journey. I’ve got to meet and volunteer alongside some amazing people. When I started this journey with habitat I knew this day would come, but never did I imagine being able to give my kids the biggest gift of all for Christmas, their forever home. I am so very thankful for all of the construction workers and volunteers who worked on my home and made it possible. This means so much to me and my family. I’m just speechless. It has been a very rough year for my family, so being able to close the year with a new home that’s ours gives us a little peace of joy to go into the new year with a fresh start. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that Habitat for Humanity has given my family and many more.”
Construction of the home was funded by the 2022 Tool Belts & Bow Ties gala, presented by At Home Real Estate. Over 50 local businesses and individuals sponsored Tool Belts & Bow Ties, and hundreds of individuals came together on April 8, 2022, to raise over $165,000 for the home.
