Following a search that included 28 candidates and 5 finalists, Chris Tuckness has been named Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri’s next Executive Director. Chris joined Habitat Springfield in May 2021 as Chief of Staff. He steps into the Executive Director role effective immediately.
Jordan Hall, who is a board member and chaired the search committee, said, “During our search for the next Executive Director, the search committee asked the staff what they were looking for in their next Executive Director. We felt it was extremely important to find the best candidate that fit the needs of the staff and would be the best fit for the organization and team dynamic. Chris Tuckness was exactly what the staff needed and wanted. He is someone who is committed to the HFH mission, collaborative, knowledgeable on the Springfield area, and has leadership skills that empowers teammates to grow and develop both personally and professionally. His strategy to continue the Habitat mission and make us the strongest, most viable Habitat for Humanity this community has ever seen is the perfect fit. We are very excited to have someone with his knowledge and skill set be a leader for all of us.”
Board and search committee member Glenn Green echoed Jordan’s support. “We sought input from the staff and board, who felt that Chris Tuckness had demonstrated great leadership as Chief of Staff and during our search process. We especially appreciate Chris’ collaborative approach with both Staff and Board Members, and look forward to working with him to grow our capacity to work in the community through our housing, learning and neighborhood revitalization programs.”
Chris has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, marketing, communication strategy, advertising, special events, fund development, and strategic planning. He attained a national 4-year certification in nonprofit management from the US Chamber of Commerce (IOM) where he also sat on the Board of Regents. He is a past recipient of Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and Men of Year. Chris is married to Allyson Tuckness and has two children, Mason and Dylan.
