Warren served the U.S. Air Force for 13 years. After his retirement from the service, he built a career in home renovations and construction.
Warren lives on a limited income, and though he has the skills and knowledge to make repairs on his home, he doesn’t have the funds to do so.
His roof was leaking.
The ceiling was shredded with holes and the rooms were dimly lit.
His carpets are musty.
The exterior of his house was peeling away.
After finding out about Habitat for Humanity’s home repair programs from a neighbor, he called to find out more. After applying and qualifying for help, Warren was accepted.
Now, thanks to Habitat for Humanity and our partners, Warren has a brand new roof that no longer leaks. He’s proud of his home and feels safe.
WARREN TOLD US, “I LIKE THE HOUSE. IT WILL BE PERFECT ONCE IT HAS A FEW THINGS DONE. IT WON’T HAVE ANY PROGRAMS, AND I’LL KEEP IT THAT WAY.”
In addition to the new roof that was installed, Warren received additional repairs thanks to Habitat for Humanity’s partnership with the City of Springfield’s Homeowner Emergency Loan Program (HELP) and Catholic Charities of Southwest Missouri. Repairs included new windows, replacing siding, installing gutters and downspouts, adding insulated doors, and a new back porch.
