$121,000 RAISED TO BUILD A HOME
Tool Belts & Bow Ties event grosses $121,000 to build a home for a Habitat for Humanity family: highest grossing event in organization’s history.
The twelfth annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties gala hosted held on Friday, March 24, 2017, raised $121,000 to build a home for a low-income family. This is the highest grossing event revenue in the organization’s history, a $34,000 increase from the previous year’s revenue. Funds will be used to build or repair a home for a low-income family in Greene County.
The “At Home on the Range” themed event was presented by Keystone Building & Design, and hosted by honorary chair, Mr. Sam Hamra, of Hamra Enterprises. During the event, guests enjoyed a 200 item silent auction, cocktail hour, dinner, entertainment provided by the Cole Porter Band, and the ever popular Sponsor-A-Home auction where attendees bid on items needed to build a home, such as a low-flow toilet, bundles of shingles, and the front door.
Event organizers educated guests on the mission of Habitat for Humanity by highlighting Habitat homeowner, Amy, who shared her homeownership story. Amy moved into her home in the Legacy Trails neighborhood in 2010. Her home is the first LED certified home built by HFHS.
