Timken Foundation Grant Award
Last fall, Habitat for Humanity of Springfield was awarded a $22,475 grant from the Timken Foundation to address critical facility needs at our Habitat ReStore. This generous investment has allowed us to make much-needed improvements that will directly support our mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable home ownership.
What the Grant Funded
-
New Signage – The ReStore’s original roadside sign had faded after years of storms and sun exposure. Thanks to Timken’s support, a new, highly visible sign now welcomes visitors along South Scenic Avenue, helping customers easily find us and shop for great deals that fund Habitat’s work.
-
Shed Demolition and Replacement – An aging, unsafe storage shed on the south end of the property was demolished and replaced with a modern, 16’ x 36’ wood-framed shed. With more secure and accessible storage space, we can better manage donations, expand sales floor capacity, and ultimately increase revenue that goes right back into building and repairing homes for local families.
Impact on Our Community
These improvements may seem simple—better signage and safer storage—but they have a profound impact. By improving the customer experience and creating more room for donations, the ReStore can generate even more funding for affordable housing for local residents of Greene, Christian, and Webster counties. Every household item donation and store purchase now goes. further, thanks to Timken’s investment.
We are deeply grateful to the Timken Foundation for helping us strengthen the ReStore, our mission, and our community.
