To signify the first step towards Neighborhood Revitalization, we partnered with the Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association to host the inaugural Rally in the Alley on Saturday, July 16, 2016. The event brought residents together to revitalize the neighborhood bringing together neighbors to clean-up designated alleys.
During the Rally in the Alley 75 volunteers from The Courageous Church worked alongside Habitat’s construction team and 25 residents of Woodland Heights removing debris and yard waste from alleys in the neighborhood. The event impacted 300 homes in the Woodland Heights neighborhood in 5 hours!
The Rally in the Alley is the first of many initiatives Woodland Heights has identified as a way to revitalize its neighborhood. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO, area residents will set goals based on community assets. Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization program addresses community priorities by working hand-in-hand with residents to revive their neighborhood and enhance their quality of life by joining residents, area nonprofits, businesses, churches and the local government to discover what is most needed in a neighborhood and to help implement a shared vision of revitalization.
