Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri, has promoted Michael Brittain to Volunteer and Neighborhood Engagement Manager. Michael joined Habitat Springfield in April 2022 as Volunteer Coordinator. He steps into the Manager role effective immediately.
As the Volunteer and Neighborhood Engagement Manager, Michael will be the main point of contact regarding the volunteer program and neighborhood relationships. He will make connections in the community for the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and be the face of Habitat for those neighbors. He will also recruit, educate, orient, and retain affiliate volunteers while creating a positive and productive experience for them.
Michael earned his Bachelors of Science in History from Drury University and has two years of experience working in the community service sector with an emphasis on food insecurity, education, and housing. He said, “In 2009 my whole family made a vacation out of building a Habitat home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I believed these events helped set my life on this path and I couldn’t be happier about it. I’m excited about taking on a larger role to help with Habitat’s big picture. Making an impact on the community every day has been rewarding. It’s a good feeling knowing that you can make a difference. The work is always worth it.”
Nancy Williams, Habitat’s Programs Director, added, “The Habitat team is looking forward to reenergizing the role that we have taken on in neighborhoods in our community and know that Michael will be the person to take those relationships to the next level.”
