On Saturday, April 26, Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri celebrated the start of construction on three new homes in Phase III of the Legacy Trails neighborhood during a special Build Kick-off Celebration.
The event marked an exciting milestone for three families — Jessica, Dawn, and Faith families — as they began their journey toward affordable homeownership through Habitat’s homebuyer program. The builds were part of the “Home Builder Blitz,” a partnership with local builders and volunteers to construct homes quickly and efficiently. Funding for these homes was made possible through the incredible generosity of community partners, including sponsorships from the ongoing Women Build initiative, contributions from the Tool Belts & Bow Ties fundraising event, and support from other local organizations.
Held at the corner of W. Volunteer Way and Faith Way in Springfield, the morning program featured remarks from local dignitaries, community partners, and Habitat representatives, who shared the powerful impact of affordable homeownership and the collaborative spirit behind the Builder Blitz effort.
This celebration marked the beginning of the final phase at Legacy Trails — a neighborhood built to promote strength, stability, and self-reliance. All three families are seeking affordable housing that will provide a safe, healthy, and stable environment where their children can grow and thrive. Research shows that children raised in homes like these are more likely to succeed in school, enjoy better physical and psychological health, and have greater opportunities for long-term success.
Thank you to everyone who attended and continues to support the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
