One Day. More Than 1,300 Volunteers. Countless Acts of Impact.
During United Way of the Ozarks annual Day of Caring on June 18th, 2026, more than 1,300 volunteers stepped up to serve organizations and neighborhoods throughout Springfield.
That remarkable turnout made this year's event one of the largest volunteer efforts in the region, demonstrating what is possible when businesses, churches, schools, civic organizations, and individuals unite around a common purpose: strengthening our community.
Habitat for Humanity of Springfield was honored to be among the many local nonprofits benefiting from the day of service.
Improving Spaces That Serve Our Community
Volunteers spread across two Habitat projects during the Day of Caring.
At the Habitat ReStore, volunteers from Edward Jones and individuals from OTC helped refresh the store with painting projects that will create a more welcoming environment for shoppers, donors, and supporters. Every purchase and donation at the ReStore helps fund Habitat's mission to build, repair, and revitalize homes throughout the Ozarks.
Meanwhile, volunteers from Rotary Springfield North, John Deere Reman, Life.Church, Mizzou, and other community members worked together to clean up and beautify the North Oak Park common area. Their efforts improved a shared neighborhood space that residents can enjoy and take pride in for years to come.
Whether painting walls or cleaning community spaces, every volunteer contributed to making Springfield stronger.
Building More Than Homes
At Habitat for Humanity, we know strong communities are built by people who care enough to invest their time and talents in others.
The work completed during Day of Caring goes beyond fresh paint and cleaner public spaces. It helps create neighborhoods where people feel connected, valued, and supported.
We are grateful to United Way Ozarks Region for organizing this incredible event and to every volunteer who spent their day serving others. Together, you are helping build strength, stability, and self-reliance throughout our community.
Thank you for showing what can happen when Springfield comes together to care.
