Chase and Amy Haskett began their journey with Habitat for Humanity of Springfield in December 2023, determined to build a safer, more stable future for their family. With two young children and growing concerns about safety in their apartment complex, the Hasketts knew they needed a change—but traditional homeownership felt out of reach.
Through Habitat’s Homebuying Program, the Hasketts committed to completing 350 hours of sweat equity—volunteer time spent building homes, attending homeownership education classes, and supporting Habitat’s mission. They've already fulfilled this requirement and are now preparing to purchase their home through Habitat with a 0% interest mortgage, making homeownership truly affordable.
“The idea of being a homeowner was really intimidating to me at first—joining a program. But now, a year later, after finishing all the requirements, we feel very well-equipped to be homeowners.”
For Chase and Amy, this journey is about more than just walls and a roof. It’s about providing their children with a safe place to grow and the foundation they need to become successful adults. “One of the biggest things for us as parents is we want to equip our children with all the tools they need to be happy, successful adults. We wouldn’t be able to make that possible if it wasn’t for… Habitat.”
