Amy and Nathan Maddox began their journey with Habitat for Humanity of Springfield in December 2023, driven by a desire to create a safer, more stable future for their children. For Amy, this journey was especially meaningful—she grew up in a Habitat home and witnessed firsthand how hard her mother worked to provide a solid foundation for their family. That experience shaped her values and her dream of one day doing the same for her own children.
"We just want to thank everybody—everybody for all the help that they’ve done. The donations, any kind of volunteer work that anybody does… Habitat wouldn’t be possible without donors, without the community’s help, and the community’s involvement."
Now, Amy and Nathan are doing just that. After completing their 350 required sweat equity hours, they have officially selected their lot in the Legacy Trails neighborhood—and in a special twist of fate, they’ll be living right next door to Amy’s best friend, Abby, who is also part of Habitat’s Homebuying Program. The two friends will now raise their families side by side, creating a strong sense of community and support that will shape their children’s lives for years to come.- Nathan Maddox
