Obelisk Home and Drury University will host the 11th Annual Birdhouse Auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO (HFHS). Local Springfield artists have put their own unique spin on how a bird should live by designing, painting, and adorning birdhouses for several lucky birds. The birdhouses were initially built by Mort Shurtz with wood donated by Meek’s. All birdhouses have been donated for this event by local artists.
The annual birdhouse auction will begin on May 5, 2017 in conjunction with Obelisk Home’s First Friday Art Walk and continue through May 31. The birdhouses will be on display at Obelisk Home for the month. The community is invited to visit Obelisk Home, located at 214 W. Phelps, Suite 101, Springfield, MO 65806. Photos of the birdhouses will be released over time on the Obelisk Home Facebook news feed and event page.
“The birdhouse auction is a unique collaboration between organizations that believe in the same mission; providing safe, decent and affordable housing,” said Larry Peterson, executive director of HFHS. “We are blessed to work with two local organizations to both support our mission and highlight local artists in our community.”
100% of the proceeds from the auction will directly benefit Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO’s mission; helping homeowners achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
