Kristina and Josh Wilmoth purchased a 7-bedroom, 3-bathroom home from Habitat for Humanity on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Immediately after closing, a dedication ceremony took place at the home which included home tours and a short program for invited guests.
This is the largest home Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO, has ever built. Josh and Kristina have eight children. They applied for HFHS’s homebuying program in September 2019 to provide a home that meets the family’s medical and space needs. Click here to learn more about the Wilmoth family.
During the dedication, Kristina said, “We’re just so excited, and obviously overwhelmed. I’m going to remember this day. I really am. This is just the start.” Josh stated, “We’ve lived in a lot of places that didn’t seem to have any hope or stability. This place is not just a structure, it’s a home that gives our kids hope. They don’t have to move again, and that’s a big deal. It’s not just a house. It’s a home.”
The Wilmoth family purchased their new HFHS home with a 0% interest, 0% APR loan. In addition to purchasing the home, they completed over 350 hours of sweat-equity and Habitat’s “Tools for Life” homeowner education courses.
