Volunteers of all skill levels and interests are welcome to join us. Whether you need to complete court ordered community service, volunteer for a academic extra curricular or scholarship, or are just looking for a way to spend your time giving back to the community; we are happy to accommodate you at Habitat for Humanity. Habitat offers volunteer opportunities on a weekly basis, Monday-Saturday from 9:00AM to 5:30PM.
For the safety of our customers, volunteers, and staff, it is is our policy to complete a background check on all volunteers serving 8 or more hours a month. Background checks are performed at the expense of Habitat for Humanity and new volunteers will sign the release on their first day serving prior to orientation.

What will I be doing as a Volunteer?
- Construction Site Volunteers: Construction site volunteers will be working with our construction crew at new home builds or a home repair project. Previous construction skills are not necessary, because we’ll teach you everything you need to know. During a shift, there are a variety of things you may be doing. The stage of the new build or scope of the repair project will determine the daily tasks for volunteers. Weather can affect many construction projects because they are outside. Therefore, project details may change or have to be cancelled on short notice.
- ReStore Volunteers: As a volunteer in the ReStore, you will be helping with the day-to-day operations at our Springfield Habitat ReStore. The ReStore is located at 2410 S. Scenic Ave. There is a lot to do at the ReStore. For example, volunteers may be asked to assist with donation unloading, intake, and organizing; helping customers on the sales floor; stocking the sales floor; and/or writing sales tickets for customers. As a result, our ReStore volunteering offers the widest range of availability and can accommodate volunteers of all types.
Confirmation of Service Hours:
Do you need confirmation that you volunteered at Habitat for Humanity or completed community service? If so, please fill out a confirmation request form so that we can prepare a personalized letter for you. We ask that you request your confirmation at least 2 business days before you need it. This gives us enough time to search your records and prepare a letter. Letters will be sealed in an envelope and left for pick up at the cash register of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. You may also request that your letter be faxed or emailed somewhere for convenience.
