The Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter at Dora High School in Dora, Missouri, has worked hard this year, making a positive impact in their community. The students have been busy with a variety of projects, from creating cookbooks for our partner homebuyers to planning a vegetable garden for those who are food insecure.
One of the chapter’s recent projects was the creation of 50 cookbooks for Habitat for Humanity’s partner homebuyers. The cookbooks feature favorite recipes from students and were put together by the students themselves. This project not only provided a useful resource for our partner homebuyers, but also allowed the students to showcase their creativity and culinary skills.
In addition to the cookbook project, the students are also planning to paint flower pots for Habitat for Humanity families. These painted flower pots will be given to our partner families to brighten up their homes and gardens.
The students at Dora High School are also committed to educating younger students about Habitat for Humanity’s mission. The students have been working on educational activities for both middle school and elementary school students to inform them about the work Habitat for Humanity does and how they can get involved.
Looking ahead, the chapter is planning to start a vegetable garden this summer for those who are food insecure in their community. The students believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy produce and are excited to start this project.
Finally, the chapter recently met with Missouri House Representative Travis Smith to educate him on the work they have been doing in their community. The students explained the impact of their projects and how Habitat for Humanity’s mission is helping to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
The Dora High School Chapter is an excellent example of how young people can make a real difference in their communities. Through their hard work and dedication, the students are helping to create a better future for those around them. We are proud to partner with them and look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the future.
