In our commitment to access, equity, and inclusion, we are joining Habitat leaders to participate in the ‘Beloved Community’ Initiative.
We must build a community that promotes the ideas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Therefore, we must love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We must change. And we must commit to tangible action. We commit to not only building houses but building a path to more connected communities.
Led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we must build a community that includes diversity and transforms. We will work to connect issues of racial and social injustice with historic barriers to affordable housing and work to eradicate those barriers.
We commit to being accountable, building equity, and making true community a reality. So we will provide a space where people of all races, all faiths, and all backgrounds come together in common cause.
I pledge to help build the Beloved Community.
I believe that every single one of us — regardless of who we are or where we come from — deserves a decent life.
Like Dr. King, I believe in a Beloved Community of justice, equal opportunity and love of my fellow human beings.
I want to help build a world that leaves no room for poverty, prejudice, or violence.
I pledge to work together with my neighbors, side by side, to create strength, stability and self-reliance for all.
I ask others to join me — it’s up to us to make this a reality.
